2021 Caleb Walker Memorial Golf Tournament Recap

We are delighted to announce the result of this year's tournament and our date for the 2022 Caleb Walker Memorial Golf Tournament!

We were so grateful to come together for our 2021 Caleb Walker Memorial Golf tournament at the Hershey Country Club for a record-setting fundraising day. We are delighted to announce that this year’s tournament raised over $128,000! Thank you to all of the participants, sponsors, volunteers, and the staff of Hershey Country Club for making this year’s tournament an epic success. We couldn’t be more proud of our team or thankful for the support we received from our friends & partners.

Golf was a special part of our founder Caleb’s life as it was an activity he often turned to when he was going through hard times himself. He would say a few hours on the golf course provided him with an escape from worrying about chemo treatments, doctor appointments, missed time at work due to treatments, and all the other everyday life stressors. This type of break is precisely the mindset AWA strives to provide for the families we serve.

Caleb was diagnosed with cancer in 2009 when doctors discovered a lemon-sized tumor in the right parietal lobe of his brain. After enduring countless doctor visits and six surgeries, Caleb’s loved ones gifted him a long weekend in Ocean City, NJ. During his trip, he relaxed and re-set, and it was there he decided that he wanted to provide the same opportunity to others facing similar situations. So in 2014, Caleb solidified his plan and founded A Week Away to offer these much-needed respites to families facing life-threatening illnesses. For a week, families can live in the moment and enjoy their time together without any financial burden.

Since Caleb’s passing in 2014, this tournament has become our organization’s premier event to honor him and his love for the game. Each year the funds raised from our generous sponsors and participants directly support our mission of providing respites to those battling life-threatening illnesses. Being a volunteer-run organization, we work tirelessly to raise money and awareness to bring hope to those who need it most.

While we anxiously await next year’s tournament, you can continue to support A Week Away’s mission by donating. Each donation allows us to continue on our mission to provide hope and peace for families battling a life-threatening illness. Virtually every penny donated goes directly towards the families that we serve.

Be sure to save the date for next year’s Caleb Walker Memorial Golf Tournament, which has officially been set for August 26th, 2022!
